We go ALL out for 10th birthday's so be prepared for a lot of pictures from this weekend. <3

Day Thirty Six:

Pretty sure this was a low day. I can't remember exactly but these are the only two pictures I got from the day, so i'm guessing that means I slept a lot of it.  I'm experiencing some health issues right now and one of the realities of that is dealing with some fatigue.

Day Thirty Seven:

If Thursday was a low day then Friday more then made up for it. It was warm enough to spend some time outside riding bikes and just being together. Then once Dad got home from work we crowned Solomon the KING OF THE WEEKENED. This was so much fun. I love the expression on his face as he's being crowned. He got to choose everything we did this weekend. I love that we could completely trust him to choose because he is so kind and thoughtful. One of the quotes I never want to forget is Solomon saying, " Mom, I don't want my birthday to interrupt church at all."

His first decree as king was getting pizza and watching a family show together in the living room.

Day Thirty Eight:

Solomon's second decree was going out for breakfast in pajamas. We drove through Taco bell for Solomon and then went to McDonalds for the play place and everyone else's breakfast. We never let the kids play the video games at play places because if we wanted them to stare at screens we could have stayed home, but Solomon was king, so they fully enjoyed the luxury of getting to play games this time.

We still had basket ball games and cheer but then we went swimming and had a cousin sleep over complete with more video games.

Day Thirty Nine:

Completely wiped from staying up way too late, we still had to get up for church.  We hit Chuck E Cheese after church and topped the day off with Solomon looking at himself one more time as a 9 year old boy. We always look in the mirror before going to bed the day before birthday's. That way they can see how much older they look the next morning.

Day Forty:

Solomon's 10th birthday complete with birthday money, vintage arcade games, IHOP, Lego store, and a special date just with dad at the end.

Favorite memory is bringing up a single candle to Solomon's bed, lighting it and singing him happy birthday, just the two of us.  Some of the most intimate moment's I am practicing being present and so no pictures are taken but I never want to forget.

Day Forty One:

Well timed sunshine and the last week of basketball practice. We made silly faces to pass the time.

Day Forty Two:

Rough day, thankful for friends who are willing to meet at McDonalds.

365- Week Five https://kerimessinaphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2020/2/365--week-five I have gotten so far behind on blogging, but not taking photos! So I'm really proud of myself for that. I actually had a week five all typed out and ready to go and then forgot to save it. When I came back to the computer it was gone. Sad.

Day Twenty Nine:

Woke up to this beautiful boy sleeping beside my bed. He doesn't always come into our room at night but when he does he usually asks me to pray for him. I love that he finds such comfort in prayer.

We also met up with some friends for a picnic and it sure helped to chase away some of those winter blues!

Day Thirty:

Rosie got student of the month at her school for the character trait of cooperation. We celebrated her this day.

Day Thirty One:

Another Saturday, another cheer day, another pulled tooth day.

Day Thirty Two:

Superbowl Sunday! We watched the game with friends and this was the first time that my oldest two really sat down and watched. It was fun experiencing that with them. The younger ones ran around and ate snacks.

Day Thirty Three:

Monday, Monday. The kids had the day off from school. We picked out Valentines crafts from Michael's and went for a walk so Rosie could hide her rock.

Day Thirty Four:

Basketball and cheer practice, good times with cousins.

Day Thirty Five:

Lunch with friends. Jeremiah has been practicing being a gentleman and finds such joy in it. Ellie wins best big sister of the year points for reading to Jeremiah until he falls asleep. Rosie's hair was my favorite this day.  I asked to take a picture of her so of course I got the classic Rosie silly face.

365- Week Four https://kerimessinaphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2020/1/365--week-four The weeks are starting to feel familiar. This time of year does little in the way of new adventures. Big kids to school, "special time" with Jeremiah, after school sports and games on the weekends. Looking forward to warmer weather, longer days, and fuller adventures. But for now, here's some of the big moments in a small frame.

Day Twenty Two:

Rosie and Kaydence play "baby sitter"

Day Twenty Three:

Still trying to stay ahead of the winter blues, Jeremiah and I hit his favorite place, The Boise Mall. He always has some kind of teddy bear in tow.
Long over due family game night. Jeremiah is still too young for a lot of the high strategy games we like to play so instead he gets to be the game piece king. He loves the power, the big kids hate it.

Day Twenty Four:

Most notable is how much I love my hubby for loving this little dog.

Day Twenty Five:

Kobe dies. We spend time around the table with Ellie while she finishes a school project. Daryl helps me with Jeremiah's intense need for physical touch which is normally directed towards me.

Day Twenty Six:

I decide that some of my winter blues is because I haven't created enough. I try to do some water color, nothing mind blowing but it helps.

Day Twenty Seven:

Another Tuesday, another round of after school sports, cheer and basketball. My absolute favorite thing is that we sign up for sports with the cousins. I love how much these cousins love each other. I am also so blessed to have an amazing sister in law I get to sit and chat with the entire time. These are the days I know I will miss when my kids are old.

Day Twenty Eight:

Solomon gets little spurts of inspiration to achieve specific goals. Today was getting fit and being better at dribbling.

365- Week 3 https://kerimessinaphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2020/1/365--week-3 The days keep marching on! Here's a summary of week 3.

Day Fifteen:

We killed our time after school painting nails. It ended up being a great bonding experience for Ellie and I as we failed to wait long enough for our hands to dry after painting them x 3. It was comical and frustrating at the same time. I am still sporting a chipped manicure to this day. Rosie painted Jeremiah's toes, one foot worth at least.

Day Sixteen:

Rough day. Really struggled with depression and my kids behavioral problems on this day. Daddy came to the rescue and took the kids to the store to go buy mommy candy. Solly stayed behind since he embodies peace and is never hard to have around. This is the only image I took this day. I just think he's so handsome.

Day Seventeen:

New day! Rosie had her first ever cheer game and Solly had his 2nd Basketball game of the season. Solomon isn't the most athletic boy you will ever meet. He is the first to admit that. But he knows who he is and focuses on what he's good at and that's defense! Who ever he is defending rarely gets any play time.

Day Eighteen:

The hamster is still unnamed but not unloved by any means. I am truly surprised by how much interest it garners from everyone through out the day, especially our little dog coco.  Also, Solomon lost a molar, you can tell that Daddy really loves pulling teeth.

Day Nineteen:

Our sweet friend Kaydence is back! Rosie and Kaydence ran to each other after their 2 week separation and gave each other a big hug. I love the picture of them sitting at the table, you can just tell the love they have for each other.

Day Twenty:
Busy day, ramen for dinner. Rosie really wanted to do the spaghetti kiss from Lady and the Tramp, Jeremiah refused.

Day Twenty One:

Is there any more joy then children watching the garbage truck?

School for big kids and library day after school.

365- Week 2 https://kerimessinaphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2020/1/365--week-2 Day Eight:

I finally remembered to bring my camera out of the house. We were sitting in the school pick up line when Jeremiah started drawing on himself. I took a deep breath and told myself, "don't be a stick in the mud, he needs a bath anyway". So I let him draw on himself. It was cute hearing him describe how he was making himself a ninja.

Well then things got pretty far out of hand. Not only did he draw all over himself, but I am still finding pen marks all over my house. On walls, tables, chairs, cabinets, and even his own favorite bear. Lesson learned, it's not so bad to be a stick in the mud.

Day Nine:

First week back to our pre-Christmas routine. I had to stop by the store and in the end let Jeremiah pick a lego kit from the clearance row. It was a good deal after all.

We also had cousins over after school. I always wanted to have a kitchen with a window that looked out into the back yard. <3

Day Ten:

Saturday! Basket ball games, forgot my camera. Then hubby and I went out to celebrate our 13th anniversary a couple of days early, also forgot my camera. I was already in bed, close to sleep when I realized I hadn't taken my photo for the day. Cue sleeping photos, they are my favorite kind anyway.

Day Eleven:

Church, friends over for dinner. I have started buying boxed breads and things to bake for Ellie. She can read and follow the simple directions. When you have a mom that has no clue about cooking this is how you get to learn. Also she usually includes the littles which makes my mama heart really happy.

Day Twelve:

Kids are back in school again. Decided to combat my "down day"  by taking a trip to chuck E cheese. We signed up for the reward club and got a free pizza. Turns out it's not so expensive when you only have to pay for one child.

Also on this day we found Daddy's special bear in our memory box in the garage. Jeremiah is obsessed with little bears specifically. It was pretty sweet watching Daddy give Jeremiah the special bear from his childhood.

Day Thirteen:

Early Morning wake up, school, and basketball. In between we finally got to play in the snow! Every time it has snowed a significant amount this year my kids have missed it because it melts before school is out. They were so happy.

Ellie has started showing an interest in photography and keeps asking me to use my camera. I set the settings so she can get a good exposure and let her practice with composition. She has surprised me with some great shots. Thinking about making a separate blog post for her to post so that this thread doesn't get too long.

Day Fourteen:

4th graders are learning recorder at Solly's school. He is loving it so much. However he has to practice outside.  I also did a little photography "walk about" as I like to call it in my back yard. Trying to mix it up so it's not the same thing every day.

Well, that's a wrap on week 2! I can hardly believe I have made it this far. Looking forward to what week 3 brings us.

365- Week One https://kerimessinaphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2020/1/365--week-one Why now?

After all, it’s not a new concept. The heavens haven’t opened and somehow made my life less hectic. I don’t have some new source of inspiration or energy.

Why now, after many broken resolutions and shortly terminated starts, am I finally doing the 365 photo challenge?

I wonder if it’s because I have learned to care less about making the perfect image every day and instead focus on just making images. Raw, boring, unemotional, true images.

Maybe it’s about truth telling. When the same image you’ve taken 3 days in a row is your kids playing on their tablets because although generally people see you as upbeat and fun, you still struggle with depression cycles.

I don’t have the perfect answer right now, maybe I will discover the answer throughout the 365 days, or maybe the answer will never come. But this year, 2020, I am trying my hardest to document this life I've been given, 365 days, the good, the bad, boring.

Without further ado, week one of 2020.

Day one:

We're starting to get pretty bored of winter break.

Day Two:

Classic baking with a 5 year old.

Day Three:

Only took a couple photos this day. One which isn't shown because it has other children in the picture, not belonging to me. The cool thing about this day is we got out of the house and did some thrift store shopping. Found these cute little babies dressed like animals for Rosalie. She has always loved little trinkets and things.

Day Four:

Such a great day. Solomon had been asking for weeks to get outside and play baseball as a family again. We set the date for Saturday and it was glorious.

Day Five:

Church, lazy Sunday.

Day Five:

Kids still aren't back to school even though it's Monday. Pulled out some old toys from the garage including this cute vintage computer.

Day Six:

NO lie. Asleep on his feet.  Crazy day. Foot xray for my daughter who has been struggling with foot pain for 9 months + and our car got crashed into while parked and unoccupied in the doctors office parking lot.

Day Seven:
Solly makes me coffee and says it has a face in it. Do you see it? The big kids help make dinner. Dinner was a bust, no fault of the kids.

By the end of the week I am realizing that A LOT of my life happens in this kitchen. I am also realizing that I need to start bringing my camera with me more places.

I hope you enjoyed week one!

Chance | Humboldt County Senior Photographer https://kerimessinaphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2016/8/chance-humboldt-county-senior-photographer It's funny to me how we think we can know a person, but as time passes we have to re-learn. I have known Chance for about 5 years now. He was a very rowdy jr. higher. But now as he enters his senior year of high school he amazes me! He has become one of the most respectful, quiet, and hard working kids I have ever met.  I love seeing how time changes and develops us.  I only see good things in the future for this young man!

With out futher ado.... Chance:
